Ahh, freedom, precious freedom. Air, big sky and big views. Alcatraz Island is more impressive than the prison itself.
Wonder where they got the water from? I can't imagine that they piped water all the way from the mainland. It would be amazing if they drilled an aquifer through all the rock, and desalinization is totally out of the question. Maybe rainwater collection? Maybe the rock was sustainably developed?
I took a couple of pictures from the administrative offices towards the city, but you couldn't really see how amazing the view is. Instead I choose a shot of the reflection on the secretaries office.
In putting today's blog together, I noticed the stripes on the seal of the US say "FREE". I wonder who decided to paint that? Further, this seal looks suspiciously like the NFL seal. Maybe the NFL ripped off Alcatraz? I smell lawsuit.
The island is spotted with cliffs and crags all over. Very, very clear why it is referred to as the rock.
The warden's house was particularly impressive. Even though it is now lacking a roof, windows, or any other accoutrements.
Simply stated, pick up a prisoner and you'll be in trouble. Well, we have the over and up, the in, the out, and tomorrow we'll extend with the all about. Enjoy, jon
