Not Sailing Soon

This boat, not going anywhere. Hasn’t gone from there for  couple of years. The cradle is even bolted to the building. At this point, I would say it is an extension of the building. Perhaps they are planning on sailing their ship away a la Monty Python.

Damn you Facebook. Sometimes you just soak up my attention. With rarely a lasting reward, you are a pox upon this earth. A little harsh, I know. But that’s what makes hyperbole wrong.

Broken Windows

How dare they ruin the wonderful graffiti by breaking the window it was painted on. Isn’t there any honor among vandals anymore?

Just a Little Creepy

Seriously, who would by popcorn from this van? It is a janky spray painted mess that screams “I will take your child”. Then to find it in a back alley.

Goes Both Ways

Reads both ways, rather. Just in case you pull in forward to unload your truck.

More Urban Vinyl

I think urban vinyl is pretty wicked. It is most certainly on the list of things I would waste excessive amounts of money on, if I were an excessive amount of money waster.

Some Mitchel’s

Mitchel 4

So, the Mitchel Building is probably the most interesting thing I see on my way home. At least the most interesting thing I’m guaranteed to see.

Mitchel 3

Huh, up until now I didn’t noticed the building was adorned with the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz.

 Mitchel 2

Rich men and politics. Its no wonder his son became a general.

The Big Bank

Big Bank

I’m pretty happy with this shot. Great leading lines, perfect clouds, wonderful blue sky. If it wasn’t for the pee stain of a snow melt on the bridge, I’d give it an A+.

Duckies who like to swim away from me. The local, no longer migrating ducks known as mallards, let me get plenty close. These guys, an hour of sitting in the cold and this was the closest I got. Don’t get me wrong, sitting by the lake watching ducks swim wasn’t punishment. It’s just, I wanted a cool close up picture. Well, I’ll always remember my frozen butt.

Lakeshore State Park

State Park

A mighty find park overlooking the city and the lake. I find it to be a rather brilliant way to continue the bike paths, a little circuitous, but enjoyable.

Ice Fishing

And, to my surprise, a great place to ice fish. My brother informs me the whole surface heaves up and down as you fish. A scary event I am happy to avoid.

Ducks Away!

Ships a comin'
And don't forget the poor birdies. Stupid boat, scaring all the birdies.

Your Ship is Coming in

Ships a Comin' for you
And it's huge!!! It was a really fun time at the dock in the cold. The five of us all had that cheery up early and in the cold crazy smile on our faces. A shared moment in 'the big city'

They Walk on Water

Jesus Seaguls
I did not know Jesus also came in seagul form. Did you know there is not really a "seagul", that it is a catch all that describes both all and none. Any gul has a specific name, in this case I think our local buddies are ring billed. Have I mentioned this before? Its just that I have written so many posts. Beyond that, enjoy!

Tipsy Much

Twisted Walk
Not really tipsy. It was the middle of the day people. Just thought keying on a different verticle line would have a grand effect. I am pleased.

Robot Invasion

I am Robot
It is a robot invasion, and it is kitsch! Run, run before his light up eyes and useless clamp hands get you!

44 Days Late

Happy New Year
A crushed happy new year. This is not a metaphor, just sort of funny.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Actually the first shot of the year, and a happy new year it has been. Shooting even on the cold days playing photographer has yielded results. I've also begun post processing almost every shot. A combination of a new camera, and a more thoughtful outlook on pictures. It is time to go from "snapshot artist" to artist. We'll see.

Friday, February 11, 2011

Well, I’m sure it will have been sold by the time this posts.  We’ll see.

Yeah, Milwaukee gets cold

Boy howdy does it get cold.

So cold.  So f’n cold.  And I almost got splashed by that water.  I feared it.  I feared the freazing cold, and so should you.  Brrr.

Snowy Bridge

I have attempted many shots of this here derelict bridge.  This is the only one I like.  Still don’t love, but I’m getting closer.

The Pfister

A very similar picture is hanging at the Starbucks in the 3rd Ward.  Mine’s better.  Niagh.

River Walk

I like our river front.  I think it has such great potential.  One day, there will be boats of drunk young professionals idling up and down on bar crawls with boats.  What a dream, what a dream.

Statues of Little Men

Little men, doing big work.

The Grohmann Museum was a surprising delight.  I wonder how many other diamonds in the rough Milwaukee has to offer.

Awesome mustache.

Overlooking the mills.

Even the old ladies get into it.  Or is that a man.

Hot tiring work.  Brings some love for the cube.

Overlooking and working. Double duty.

Interior Scenery

Milwaukee’s Historical Society once had a a false grey ceiling.  Fortunately, its now a grand ceiling.

It is absolutely tremendous.

Really, you need to go.  NOW!  And donate, they need it.

Subway CafĂ©.  Have you ever seen one of these, it was once an independent coffee shop, now its this abomination.  I actually don’t know if its that bad.  But, I can tell you there is two other Subway locations within a two block radius from here.

It’s as Cold as …..

Ice mugs to boot.

Brrrrr…..  It was genuinely cold.  My lord.  And ice seats.  Do you know how cold ice seats are on your undercarriage?  No.  Good.
