I have a tweaked version where this thing is ablaze like some terrible comet coming to destroy the earth and all we hold dear. Not wanting to scare y'all, I went with the unedited version. Enjoy, jon

Marks of Summer
I suppose I should celebrate the start of Summer with everyone else. My personal celebration starts on Memorial Day every year with the opening regatta. As for the rest of you who wait until the solstice, c'mon. Go outside beyond the boundaries of when the calendar says so, sheesh. Otherwise, this watermelon truck is from '04, so far this year all that is there is a lame pickup truck. What's up watermelon guys, what is up? Enjoy, jon

Pride o' Milwaukee
Well, one of our many prides. Bet you were expecting beer. I also enjoy Rockwell and SC Johnson. Oh man, so many more name. I'll just say this, we are proud of our city. Weeee!!!! Milwaukee!!!! Enjoy, jon
Nature's Choice
I think nature decided on black and white for this one. Though I shot it in color not really planning for B&W, it just screamed it when it was on the computer. Screamed. It was deafening at the time. I'm lucky my inner ear didn't explode. The only way to stop it was to disregard the color information. Disregard entirely. Trust me, you don't want to hear nature screaming for black and white. Just think what I suffer through for you. Enjoy, jon

A Protest for Fridays
Or, a protest on Fridays. It was still cold out the first time I walked by the war protestors, now it is warm and they are still there. Unfortunately, giant paper-mache Bush, Cheney, and Rice headed people have long stopped showing up. As the protest has slowly waned in size, people honking and cheering on have grown. The lesson, active opponents of the war are getting lazier and passive opponents are getting more vocal. Enjoy, jon

Cool Blue Waters
Some cool blue waters brought to you by an abandoned quarry and a great state park. When I was younger a buddy and me used to catch crayfish by hand and with fishing poles for hours. We would take them home and boil them, and work very hard to get all the little meat out of them. When we were about thirteen someone showed us that you can peel them apart raw and fry them in seasoning and butter. I am a much better man for now knowing this. Enjoy, jon
Lonely Walking
Lonely and long walking. Vegas goes for ever and ever. The strip goes further than expected. All the way to "old Vegas".

Smug
Smugness, brought to you today by a wood sculpture artist. I imagine my camera angle aided in the feeling. On a technical level, the little light spots over his headdress is rather annoying. Enjoy, jon

Away From the Weather
A few too many weather shots in a row. But, as anyone in Wisconsin knows, the weather is the news lately. I am susceptible to trends as much as anyone. Shifting gears, this little guy was hiding in a pine tree stand with two buddies. I think it looks alot like columbine, I should really start looking up plant species, but columbine is more of a Colorado flower. The worst part of this shot was the mosquitos, ugh. Ya'll are lucky you get to see the flower without the corresponding bug bites. Enjoy, jon

Running from Storms
Happily running, of course. This little thunder cloud wasn't quite ready when we sailed under it, only drizzle. As it traversed the lake it grew an grew until we saw it spark up with lightning. The commercial jets flew around it one after another like lemmings. All in all, Paco seems pretty happy about all of this. Enjoy, jon

Hope for None of This....
I will be in Chicago, twice, basically until Monday. Probably no where near my computer, so posting is likely to fall by the wayside. In the mean time, enjoy these extra posts and wish me happy sailing. Enjoy, jon
Mt. Yotei
Creating its own clouds. One of my favorite weather phenominom is when mountains make clouds. It shows how massive, how great mountains can be. For more information you can check out the Mt. Yotei stub on Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Y%C5%8Dtei. Don't forget to check the pick, I took it. About three years ago I added a couple of pictures to Wikipedia, and this is the only one to survive (the TV Tower below was a casualty). Perhaps people really like the picture. Or, more likely, people don't visit the English language Yoteizan very often. Enjoy, jon

Too Obvious?
I have many, many pictures of signs. Most of which contain no artistic value, just some odd habit of mine. Some aren't even interesting, just cannot help myself. Moving on, seriously? How necessary is this sign? This is like an obnoxious work mate who puts signs over the garbage asking you to use it. Well, I suppose French Canadians require such signs. Good for them. Enjoy, jon

Is it a Bear?
Is it a bear? I think it is a bear/mouse/human concoction with an eye on Japanamation cuddly.. Not that there isn't anything wrong with that. I cannot wait to have a more reasonable sized one for my cube. Haven't yet fallen in 'love' with one, plus $15 is hard to part with. Enjoy, jon
Boat Ride
Seems like the way to see the Chicago skyline. From the harbor to the river, open landscapes and tight skyscrapers. Someday. Someday. Enjoy, jon

"Foul" Weather
Now, I wasn't the first to notice. But apparently this cloud is rather phallic. Also, phallic can be defined as a "mimetic image of a penis". Mimetic being a fancy way of of saying mimic, and the adjective for mimesis. Interesting. It's also pink. Enjoy, jon

Lake Park
Back to the way-back machine. This is an imitation shot that I first took in high school. Black and white and all. I remember using dad's Nikon with 100 ISO black and white film. It was pretty awesome, developing my own film and making my own prints. Now, this is just digital. Floating in the ether. More permanent in the end, seeing as I lost the original. Enjoy, jon
TV Tower
TV Tower, Sapporo, Japan. Maybe if we wait around long enough we'll see that weird brown mascot thingy. I cannot remember what it is called, but it is some sort of Japanese TV icon. I may have seen it in this park one day, wondering what it was. All these years later sort of knowing what it was, I really missed a good chance for a crazy/awesome picture. Enjoy, jon

Intense
She's intense. Well, the museum said it was a she. How the artist hollows out the marble to make the iris and pupil is both cool and creepy. Enjoy, jon
