Industrial decay and decline is something all Milwaukians are intimately familiar with. And to see it on Kauai is rather alarming. The end of the sugar plantations was tied to the beginning of workers rights. The great sugar barons probably didn't anticipate that fighting to become a state would be suicidal.
Decay always has its own stark beauty.
