I am going to be a bit more repetitive than usual here. Mostly because the Milwaukee Public Library foyer deserves it.
Damn mat again! (P.S. Thanks for understanding Scott)
I miss that kind of construction. Where there was so much detail. So much care. Though, I’m pretty certain some of that was do to the unbelievably low wages we used to pay people.
Maybe not though, socialist built city hall. I guess they probably built this as well.
We went for the weekly architectural tour. However, the weekly guide did not show up.
The guide we got was great, and very suited to the other family on the tour. However, her knowledge of the architecture was a bit light.
It was no loss to us, as we plan on going back to see the green roof and solar panels anyway.
I’m pretty stoked. How cool is that to connect the past with the present. Italian marble and inlay floor with a roof that supplies ten percent of the library’s electricity.
In a larger sense, connect the past with the present is a lot of what a library is now. Tomes of human knowledge along side computers. Used for research, used for socializing, computers and shared spaces allow us to connect.
And has really cool stained glass.
Looking down. Another place that begs to be shot HDR. One day I’ll go back to hauling my tripod everywhere.
The space can certainly create dynamism in composition. Not many places can do the same.
Just think, this was hand carved. Wow.
The young lass was enjoying her book on the bottom step. And why not. It is such a great backdrop to imagination and solitude.
